ENG1 & Seafarer Medicals

ENG1, OGUK and offshore medicals carried out to the MCA and industry standard, so your seafaring or offshore career keeps moving.

Seafarers and offshore workers can’t afford delays waiting for a medical. We carry out ENG1 seafarer medicals and OGUK offshore medicals to the required standard, with appointments available nationwide and results turned around quickly.

Whether you’re a new cadet, an experienced seafarer renewing your certificate, or heading offshore for the first time, we’ll guide you through exactly what’s needed.

Who this is for

  • Seafarers requiring an ENG1 medical certificate for MCA purposes
  • Offshore workers requiring an OGUK medical for platform or vessel work
  • Cadets and new entrants to the maritime or offshore industry
  • Renewals for seafarers whose existing certificate is due to expire

What's included

The examination covers vision, hearing, cardiovascular and general physical assessment against the relevant MCA (ENG1) or OGUK standard, including a review of your medical history. Your certificate is issued on the day wherever the outcome allows.

The difference
The clinician who carries out your assessment makes the clinical judgement and writes the report, so the reasoning behind it is genuine, not templated.
Questions

ENG1 & Seafarer Medicals FAQs.

What’s the difference between ENG1 and OGUK?
ENG1 is the UK seafarer medical certificate required for most maritime roles, while OGUK is the offshore medical standard required for oil, gas and renewable energy platform and vessel work. Some roles require both.
How long is an ENG1 certificate valid for?
Validity depends on your age and role, typically one or two years. We can confirm your renewal date at your appointment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring photo ID, your discharge book if you have one, a list of current medications, and glasses or contact lenses if you use them.
